Kalavasos-Tenta contains the remains of a small Neolithic period village occupied from about 7500-5500 BC (or over about 7,500 to 9,500 years ago!). It is one of several similar places on the island, such as the nearby Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, which was designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
